About the Artists
Gabriella Ceccherini was born in Seravezza (Lucca, Italy). She has been exhibiting since 1991.“The bivalent character of Gabriella’s work expresses itself with colour or with drawing. The latter, mostly used as notes, sometimes biographical, generated by real felt life participation, with a freshness of something newly born or only just thought. Elsewhere, the colours pressed directly from tubes or the tints applied with a spatula, speak of a particular vocation for plastic”. (Victor Arellano Rey). She lives and works in Padova ( Italy).
Geppo Monzio Compagnoni was born in Bergamo in 1953. He attended the Artistic Lyceum of Bergamo. Yet it is above all his frequent visits to the painting studio of his father Ferdinando which fired his desire to become a painter. The style of Monzio Compagnoni is fantastical and symbolised: his works are not intended as mere moments of escapism, but as witnesses to the existence and the deep feeling of a hidden and secret world, which is mostly forgotten, yet, in reality, exists in each of us. He lives and works in Foppiano, Rovegno, 16028. (Genova) Italy
Francesco Pezzuco was born in 1957 in Sperlonga. He has been exhibiting since 1985. “Francesco Pezzuco’s abstract painting often brings to the surface recognizable forms, transient as imprints. The artist has obviously opted for a pictorial code referring to a certain thought discipline. The sign of this philosophical vocation also filters through the titles of his compositions, such as IL punto di affetto dell’artista per un punto della terra (The point of affection of the artist for a point of the earth). Other paintings instead refer to the relationship between man and nature, or to that which comes between the heavens and the earth, themes which he brings forth in symbolic geometries of great intelligence. This is also true of the series of paintings thematically grouped under the title Stanze (Rooms) and which develop the parallel themes of the Dream and Sound. A certain conceptual daring is needed to visualize such reasoning in a non-elusive way, an ability in which Francesco Pezzuco is certainly not lacking. The sense of the oniric, as that of harmony, are entrusted to a geometric vision which evokes a cosmic balance regulated by a non transcendental reason, or rather by the laws of nature, nature pronounced vita! Matrix and ethical end. However, it is not so much the problematic of existence which lend interest to this original pictorial art, as it is the visual solution which interprets them and which refers them to the observer’s eye”. (Vittorio Sgarbi)
Giampiero Reverberi was born in Reggio Emilia in 1961. He currently resides in Switzerland and has regularly exhibited since 1985. He also does literary research and has published various poetic collections.
It is therefore difficult to define the boundary of these two of his expressive talents, refined over time by culture and technique. Poetry and painting are the spheres in which the writer “musics” his thoughts and with the paintbrush “composes” colourful notes, giving them the right intonation and reading. Poetry and art are in perfect harmony just as much as they are undoubtedly independent from each other, there is no coincidence, just as his painting cannot be interpreted as abstract painting or poetic imagination, because it is closer to the concept of Kandinsky for which “color is a means to exert a direct influence over the soul”.
Clara Scarampella Lombardi was born in Brescia. She has been exhibiting since the early Seventies. She has worked for ten years with the students of NYU in Venice, for the Graduate program directed by Angiola Churchill and she has conceived “Clara e gli americani” a cycle of biennial appointments curated by Fausto Lorenzi from 1997 to 2005. Pierre Restany has written for her “Images of nature” and “Nature of images”. She has been exhibiting in New York, San Francisco, Vienna, Paris, Bruxelles, Nice, Tokyo, Beijing, Saint Paul De Vence (Museum), Ferrara, Palazzo dei Diamanti, Lugano (Malpensata), Milan, Bari, Padova, Verona, Mantova, Bergamo, Como, Savona. She lives and works in Rezzato. “…Clara’s merit is that she has got us to concentrate on this anonymity of the brief instant, on this type of aleatory and superficial reference; by giving a great affective impetus and a strong existential dimension to these total things very nearly drowned in the habit of our daily life.” Pierre Restany (from the catalogue “Images of nature and nature of images”.
Cristina Ruffoni was born in Stresa (Vb) in 1962. She graduated at the Art Academy Brera in Milan. She has been exhibiting since 1989. She lives and works in Milan.
Cristina Ruffoni is surely one of the most complete artists among the young generation with interests in the interaction between writing and visuality. Her texts, always written by her, are of great poetic depth and are used with a precise sensitivity to colours and materials so that meaning and vision exalt each other.
“The artist works on the attacks: she doesn’t tell us, working on her text, where the speech begins and where it ends. Or more precisely: where the head of the world is and where the tail. Like an opera book perhaps; where the words are shaken as in an earthquake and absorbed by the genius of the composer…” Emilio Isgrò
